A new way to keep your level or move up to the next

As of 1 April 2018, your membership level will be determined by Experience Points, or “XP” for short.

You’ll gain XP with every eligible paid flight you take with:

Gain XP on your flights

The further you explore the world and enhance your flight experience, the more XP you will get:

  • You'll gain a fixed number of XP per flight
  • The number of XP will be based on your flight type and cabin

The moment you reach the next level, the XP needed to qualify for that level will be deducted from your XP counter and your 12-month qualification period will restart. Any XP you gained above the required threshold will be yours to keep.

If you have any Level Miles and/or qualifying flights on 31 March 2018, we will convert them to XP.

We’ll calculate the number of Miles needed to book your ticket based on the origin, destination and date of your flight.

Background

  1. Why is Flying Blue changing?
We asked members what they wanted, and they told us: more simplicity, more flexibility, a fairer earning scheme and more options to spend Miles on flights and flight-related services. 3. When can I expect changes to Flying Blue to start?
The programme updates will be in effect from 1 April 2018. You do not have to do anything; you can use your Flying Blue account after 1 April 2018 just as you can today.
  4. Can I keep using my physical Flying Blue card?
All our programme members will have access to a digital Flying Blue card, which will be available via the AIR FRANCE app and the KLM app. In addition, our Elite members will get a new physical card.
  5. When will I receive my new Flying Blue card?

Yes, our programme name will stay the same.
  7. Will the changes be applicable to all Flying Blue members worldwide?

Earning Miles on flights

  2. What happens if I claim missing Miles from 1 April 2018 for an AIR FRANCE, KLM, JOON or HOP! flight in December 2017?
You will receive Miles according to the new earning scheme, if applicable.
  3. What is the new earning scheme for AIR FRANCE, KLM, JOON and HOP! flights?

  5. How many Miles will I earn if I fly with an airline partner and AIR FRANCE on one ticket?

You will not earn Miles on these tickets. Earning Miles is only possible if the ticket or an extra option is in your name. All family members can earn Miles with their own account.
  7. How many Miles will I earn if I pay my ticket in a currency other than euros?
At the moment of the purchase of the ticket, we will convert currencies to euros. This euro amount will be used to determine the Miles you earn.
  8. What is happening to the validity of my Miles?
All your Miles will be valid for life as long as you take an eligible flight at least once every 2 years with AIR FRANCE, KLM, JOON, HOP!, Aircalin, Kenya Airways, TAROM or other SkyTeam partners.

In addition, if you take a flight with any of the other Flying Blue airline partners, or stay with, rent a car with, or make use of any service from our commercial partners, you’ll extend the validity of Miles earned with our other airline and commercial partners by 2 years.

Please note that only the validity date for Miles earned with commercial and other partners is extended, and not the validity date for other Miles.
